John is founder and the former chairman, chief executive officer, and owner of Air Systems, Inc. (ASI). Founded in 1974, ASI is one of the largest mechanical contractors in Northern California, which under John’s nearly three decades of leadership achieved annual revenues of as much as $265 million with over 1,500 employees. The company provides a wide range of products and services used in mechanical and electrical contracting, architectural sheet metal, and process piping. This includes complete design/build capabilities as well as repair and maintenance of equipment and facilities, large and small.

Drawing upon his extensive experience in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) business, John recently started TMFC, Inc., a San Jose-based management consulting firm.

Beyond his business pursuits, John has been intimately involved in supporting the Air Systems Foundation, which he founded in 1984 as a way of giving back to the local community. The organization annually produces the Air Systems Car Show and Family Fun-Fest, which benefits more than 60 children’s charities in Northern California, including the Children’s Discovery Museum and the san Jose Historical Museum. To-date, the foundation has raised over $2.5 million, with 98 percent of that money going directly to support local charities.

John’s motor sports passions are focused on the Historical Stock Car Racing Series (HSCRS) group, which he founded in 1996. The organization is dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and continued competition of authentic former NASCAR stock cars. John currently serves as president of the HSCRS, and his #43 STP 1992 Richard Petty Pontiac Grand Prix—one of the top cars of its day—is a regular competitor in HSCRS events throughout the West. John also owns several other restored NASCAR stock cars, as well as a number of vintage automobiles, ranging from a 1931 Stutz Bearcat to a 1952 Austin Healey.

John served in the United States Army—including a tour of Vietnam from 1967–1969—and graduated from San Jose State University in 1970. He has been or is still active in numerous trade and professional organizations, among them: the board of directors of the Santa Clara County Contractors Association, Construction Kick Start Board under former Governor Pete Wilson, Local SMACNA Trust Fund board of directors, past president of the California Sheet Metal Contractors Association, San Jose medical board of directors, and Rotary board of directors. He has also won numerous awards including the Boy Scouts Distinguished Citizens Award, Silicon Valley Entrepreneurial Award, and San Jose Magazine Legacy Award.
